azoulai studio is a South Florida based design firm that creates identities, fine art, websites, apps, films, books and other tangible aesthetic objects for our clients, their audiences and for our own form of artistic expression.
Lior Azoulai, founder and partner at azoulai studio, is a highly experienced art director, brand architect, graphic designer, architectural designer and fine artist.
Born in Israel but raised around the world, Lior was exposed to a multitude of visually rich and diverse cultures and design sensibilities—from the pop-art and modernism movements of the Western world while living in Paris and New York, to the intricately ornate and intensely colorful expressions of the Eastern world while living in India and Thailand, to the blend of East meets West while living in Israel.
Lior began computer coding visual effects and animations at age 15 on a Commodore VIC-20, very quickly honing his skills both in coding and visual arts.
Lior further enhanced his coding skills while attending City University of New York, Brooklyn College, where he majored in Computer Science, offering him hands-on experience in a variety of advanced programing languages and computer platforms, including a massive IBM Mainframe.
Nearby that massive room-sized Mainframe was the newly introduced little toaster-sized Mac. As small as it was in stature, in Lior’s view, the Mac’s usability dwarfed that of the Mainframe. That was when Lior switched majors to Fine Arts and Architectural Design where he became a member of the prestigious Design Group Honors Program, headed by Architecture Professor Peter H. G. Phillipps.
While studying architectural design, Lior received an opportunity to function as architect at the Brooklyn College Facilities Department where he designed spaces for various department facilities, including those for the new graduate school of art.
Prior to earning his BFA, Lior formed the design firm, pierceaxiom with fellow Design Group members Diane R. Dolan-Solo and later joined by Austina Alexis.
Jennie Azoulai, partner at azoulai studio, is a creative visionary, writer, conceptual designer, marketing and branding consultant, and fine artist.
Jennie’s first love and recognized talents were in the Fine Arts, in which she immersed herself since early childhood and went on to major in at the University of Michigan. As a Fine Arts major, Jennie worked with mixed media and specialized in creating pictorial and sculptural representations of abstract concepts.
Jennie also excelled in language arts, and served on the University of Michigan’s English Composition Board, and as a Rhetoric Instructor at the University of Illinois.
Often described as a Renaissance woman, Jennie became avidly interested, and demonstrated talent in, diverse areas of study such as geopolitics, public debate, public speaking and the performing arts.
Jennie’s combined interests, academic achievements and professional ambitions led her to graduate from the University of Michigan with a degree in Political Science (Honors) followed by the University of Illinois College of Law, becoming an attorney licensed in New York.
Upon practicing law and residing in Washington, DC, Jennie quickly realized how she longed to get back to her creative roots, and to New York City. Instead of being a lawyer, she decided that she “would rather play one on TV.” Jennie landed lead acting roles in documentaries, independent films, and Off-Off Broadway productions.
As an avid international traveler, Jennie cultivated her photography skills with candid street photography and scenic landscape and architectural shots. She has exhibited her work in New York City festivals.
Indeed a true creative-analytical hybrid, Jennie applies her eclectic savvy to the realm of branding, marketing and design.
